#Review: TO STEAL A HEART by K.C. Bateman

5 of 5 stars

Marianne de Bonnard is a young woman who is willing to do anything to keep her younger sister Sophie safe. That includes working in the circus and also being the best thief in Paris until the fateful night she is caught by French spy Nicolas Valette. Valette blackmails Marianne into working for him on a super secret mission. These two are like oil and water, bickering and testing each other at every turn. Valette only cares about one thing - rescuing a very important prisoner and if Marianne is compromised during the mission, he's prepared to leave her behind.

This is a very impressive debut by Ms. Bateman. I absolutely loved the sparks between Marianne and Nicolas. The dialogue was spot on and I was sitting on the edge of my seat to find out what happened next. The romance that develops between Marianne and Nicolas did not seem forced, but slowly the two realize that their feelings between them had changed. I loved how Ms. Bateman wove in historical facts about Louis-Charles into the plot. A very enjoyable read. Highly recommended.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
